Why I stopped WhatsApping prospects one by one

Those quiet ones were probably my best prospects. The thinkers. The careful ones. The ones who actually READ everything before deciding.

I came into Network Marketing promising to never cold call or ambush a friend/family. I didn't. I used attraction strategy.

People were reaching out to me asking about my business.

But follow-up is still old-fashioned way:

  • "Hey, are you interested in the business opportunity?"

  • "When are you free to come to our seminar?"

  • "Can I show you the product to demo?"

One by one. Copy paste. Second-guessing every word.

Those who say 'not interested' - no problem, move on.
Those who ask this ask that - I thought, okay, sooner or later gonna close, but end up nothing.
Meanwhile, the quiet ones? Gone. Ghosted. Never heard from again.

I think back, right - those quiet ones were probably my best prospects. The thinkers. The careful ones. The ones who actually READ everything before deciding. But I was too busy chasing the noisy "maybes" to nurture the silent "thinking about its."

It was then I decided that the follow up process has to be better than just every two weeks message them "how ah?"

I was taught to just enroll all my leads and prospects to a mailing list and send them daily emails. So I did.

  • I shared my RM200,000 business failure...

  • My RM60,000 debt...

  • The months I couldn't pay rent...

  • My open rates hit 40%. Industry average? 20%.

But here's the magic part: People started CALLING ME. Not because I asked. Not because I pitched.

But because my failure gave them permission to share theirs.

  • "Bro, I also lost RM150k in F&B..."

  • "Your debt story? Same here, but RM80k..."

  • "That time my business had to borrow from Ah Long..."

These aren't sales calls. They're therapy sessions. I just listen. Share what I'm doing now. No pitch unless they ask. And they often ask.

Why? Because vulnerability creates trust faster than any "closing technique." The prospects I lost before weren't scared of being sold to. They were waiting for someone real to connect with.

The truth: You don't lose prospects by pushing too hard. You lose them by not being human enough for them to care.

My daily emails now:

  • Automated but authentic (AI helps me write, but stories are mine)

  • Consistent without being exhausting

  • Vulnerable without being victim-ish

  • No manual follow-up needed

The quiet ones finally have time to know me. And when they're ready, they reach out.

No more chasing. Just attracting through truth.
