I told buyers to avoid this BMW (it sold in 5 days)
Think about last time you set your mind on buying something. Could anyone talk you out of it?
Someone recently asked for my help to sell a BMW 3 Series Coupe.
Beautiful car. Immaculate condition. 6,000km genuine mileage.
Should be easy sell, but...
It's the 320i. The engine I tell everyone to avoid.
Less powerful. More problematic than bigger engines.
Open bonnet got oil stains on the engine somemore.
So I did what most salespeople never do.
Video everything. No holds barred.
Showed the good:
6,000km mileage with proof
Immaculate interior
Expensive PPF protection
Then showed the bad:
The engine bay
The oil stains
Even said on camera: "Not a better car than bigger engine models"
Basically talked people OUT of buying.
Guess what?
Two people enquired, and the car was sold in just 5 days.
Buyer came with eyes wide open.
Liked it so much, I couldn't talk him out of it even if I wanted to.
This validated everything I thought about selling.
Traditional salesmanship says list all the good, hide the bad.
Handle objections when they come up.
Push, convince, persuade, overcome.
But this 320i taught me different.
Ethical salesmanship is simply connecting your offer to the right buyer.
Think about last time you set your mind on buying something.
Could anyone talk you out of it? This buyer wanted THAT car.
My brutal honesty didn't stop him.
It helped him set proper expectations.
He bought with full knowledge.
No surprises. No regrets. No complaints later.
Traditional selling creates two losers:
Buyer gets buyer's remorse
Seller gets bad reputation
Ethical selling creates two winners:
Buyer gets exactly what they expected
Seller builds trust and referrals
The 320i buyer? Says he owes me beer.
Because I told him NOT to buy.
That's the power of ethical selling. You don't convince anyone.
You help the right people find what they already want.
I'm looking for 3 people to build movement of ethical sellers.
Who understand showing flaws creates trust.
Who know the right buyer doesn't need convincing.
Who want to sell with dignity, not desperation.

Let's build businesses where brutal honesty becomes our biggest asset.
Where "Don't buy this" becomes reason TO buy.
Always cheering you on

P.S. The "oil stain" on the engine turned out to be anti-rodent spray. To protect from rats. Extra marks for the seller!
